Of all the different types of false nails, gel nails are considered to be one of the best for longer and stronger nails which appear to be your own.With the Christmas season nearly upon us you will certainly wantbeautiful nails when you go to the countless parties and family reunions.

Gel nails are created by applying layers of acrylic gel to the surface of your own natural nails.These layers combine and set resulting in a solid nail.They are usually placed under an ultraviolet light or sometimes ordinary room light to harden.

Even though gel nails can are not the easiest type of false nail to apply it is not as complicated or difficult as it may seem at first.Below is a very simple method using the acrylic overlay technique.

1/Using a buffer to remove the shine of your natural nails gently buff your nails.Using a medium-grade emery board shape the free edge of the nail   plate to the right size so it matches your finger nail.

2/Apply a drop of nail glue to the nail tip whilst holding it at a 45 deg angle with the tip against the outer edge of your own nail Then slide the  nail tip back and when in position gently press it down. Hold it in position for a few seconds until it is held securely by the glue.

3/Now apply one coat of acrylic bonding agent to the surface of your own nail but be very careful not to get any on the acrylic tip.

4/Pour into separate glass containers containers a small amount of the acrylic liquid and acrylic powder.Take a brush and dip it into the acrylic   liquid,remove any excess by gently pressing the brush against the side of the glass container.Now sweep the tip of the brush across the top of the  acrylic powder until it has collected as much powder as possible and you have a ball of powder big enough to cover your nail.

5/Take the brush and place the tip with the acrylic ball and place it in the centre of your nail.Start gently pushing some acrylic into the cuticle  area,working towards the sides and forwards to completely fill in your nail behind the acrylic nail tip.Do this as quickly as possible,but don’t  rush it.The more experience you gain by doing your nails yourself rather than visiting a nail salon you quicker you will become.

6/When you have finished and the acrylic has set,gently tap the area you have filled in with the brush handle.The familiar clicking sound we have all   heard means that the acrylic has fully set.

7/Now that your new acrylic nails have set you can file and buff them as you want.Then apply a two coats of nail varnish and then a top coat to give your nails a  good seal.It is always a good idea to apply a small drop of cuticle oil to your cuticles.

Gel nails like the majority of false nails need filling every two to four weeks,this all depends on how fast your own nails grow.This means the part of the nail in front of the cuticle needs filling in to blend in with your existing gel nail.

How To Choose And Put On Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are none other than bogus or artificial nails. They are pasted onto real nails, and they can be done either at a nail parlor or even at home. Acrylic nails are very pretty and very common among women because of the versatility that acrylic nails give women when it comes to expressing themselves. They can be painted with whimsical patterns and styles. Some women even have acrylic nails punctured and fitted with nail rings.

Why Wear Acrylic Nails?

Why do women choose to wear acrylic nails instead of letting their normal fingernails grow? For some women, this is simply impossible. Long fingernails can make a woman feel gracious and maidenlike, but sometimes, when fingernails are allowed to grow up to a certain length, they become brittle and they break off. With acrylic nails, girls can have the pleasure of having long fingernails without the trouble – and the pain – associated with the nail’s brittleness.

There are girls who choose to wear acrylic nails in an attempt to curb their nail-biting habits. Getting acrylic nails takes time and a bit of money, as well as the fact that they do not taste good. Even a nail-biting lady would hesitate to bite on her dainty acrylic nails.

For most women, acrylic nails are merely for decoration. This peculiarly applies when a woman is supposed to go to a fancy event, and she wants to stand out and be noticed. Wearing acrylic nails can be her instantaneous ticket to the limelight.

Putting Them On

There are two ways of getting acrylic nails. You can either get your nails done at a beauty parlour or you can do it yourself. Acrylic nails need to be redone once every two weeks. If you want your acrylic nails to be absolutely perfect, it is best to have it done by nail professionals at a salon. However, if you cannot afford spending that much cash on your nails, you do not have to worry. You can do them yourself by buying an acrylic nail kit in your local beauty store.

Here is how you can do it.

1. Clean your nails and get them trimmed as short as you can. Cutting your fingernails first before putting on your acrylic nails will prevent injuries to your nail bed in case your fake nails get caught into something by accident. Also, push back your cuticles and remove the old polish left on your natural fingernails.

2. It is said that r 1000 ubbing the nail bed with a grit filing block can make the acrylic nails stick more closely to your natural nail. If you want to do that, you can. However, this can damage your natural nail bed in the long run.

3. After you are done cleaning your nails, let them dry. Once dry, apply some nail glue and then carefully place your acrylic nail. Adjust them to fit your nail closely before the glue gets dry to prevent them from looking crooked.

4. If you made a mistake in placing your acrylic nail, never, never snap them off. You would end up tearing your natural nail off your finger. What you do in this case is to soak your finger in a nail soak to dissolve the glue. Once the acrylic nail is off, you can simply repeat the process of gluing it on your nail.

5. Cut back your acrylic nails to your desired length, especially if you find them too long.

6. An acrylic nail kit always includes some liquid acrylic and powder acrylic. Mix these in a dish and then put the mixture on your acrylic nails, much like how you would do it with nail polish on your real nails. Never let the mixture touch your natural nail bed to prevent fungi growing on your nails.

7. Buff your acrylic nails and put on nail polish.

However, like with all other things in life, these nails have their cons too.
